I'm Swayne Martin, and I'm an editor at Boldmethod.
I'm a First Officer on the Boeing 757/767 for a Major US Carrier. My airline career started at Mokulele Airlines in Hawaii, where I built experience flying Cessna Caravans to land my first Part 121 job flying Embraer 145s for Envoy Air. I hold an Airline Transport Pilot's Certificate along with a Certified Flight Instructor's Certificate (CFII). In addition, I graduated from the University of North Dakota's Aerospace College in 2018 and hold a PIC Type Rating for Cessna Citation Jets (CE-525).
I run a YouTube Channel with over 30 Million views dedicated to inspiring the next generation of pilots. Each video tells a unique story about becoming a professional pilot, starting from my very first solo flight and leading all the way to flying for a major Part 121 Airline. I'm excited to be a part of the movement to revolutionize the way aviation training works. In a modern, technological era, the next generation of pilots should have the opportunity to utilize the best online training methods.

Landing on "Runway 12" in Walikale means landing on a road with a centerline painted down the middle. And with trees 5 feet away from the wingtips of this Cessna Caravan, a 30 degree turning road, and two rusted out plane wrecks (from unsuccessful attempts here), this landing isn't for the faint of heart.
The situation: A single-engine Cessna 172 loses engine power while flying over Quebec, Canada. These pilots successfully handled it, landing between cars on Highway 10.
The Boeing 777 is one of the most recognizable planes flying today, connecting every corner of the globe. Plus, its sheer size is captured perfectly in these air-to-air scenes. Check it out, then pass it on.
A 'typical' day at Amsterdam's Schiphol International Airport includes hundreds of the largest planes on earth taking off and landing throughout the whole day. It's organized chaos at points, and isn't ever really quiet. With over 52 million passengers passing through the airport every year, we see why.
It's only October 4th and the temperature outside is 33 degrees with a 20 degree wind chill. The wind gusts across airport at 15-20 knots as I enter the front door. That's North Dakota for you!
When most people hear "Gulfstream," they think of an extremely luxurious private jet used to transport VIPs around the world. But Gulfstreams do so much more than point-to-point transportation. Did you know they're flying the following missions?
It's not every day that a pilot is lucky enough to fly a 267 ton A330-300 fast and low over an airshow... much less fly in formation with that massive plane! Check out this amazing cockpit view.
The view from the pilot's seat on any given day is ALWAYS changing. That view is the reason why many of us choose to fly. What drives your passion for flight?
The ENJJPT, established for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), is the world's only multi-nationally manned and managed flight training program chartered to produce combat pilots for NATO. It's no secret that these students get to do some pretty awesome flying. How would you like to be one of their pilots?
In just 100 years humans went from dreaming of flight to soaring between every continent on earth by the millions. It used to be purely science-fiction. But now it's an ordinary, every day occurrence for people all across the globe. Modern flight has taken us much farther, much faster, than expected. And the most incredible part? People don't even seem the realize the INCREDIBLE activity going on right before their eyes.
Many people are surprised to learn that you can train for your private pilot's certificate in a light sport aircraft (LSA). In fact, that is how I personally completed my training! On the contrary, you cannot train for a sport pilot certificate in anything other than a LSA.
Mastering what many see as hieroglyphics on maps and charts isn't easy, just know that it WILL come with time and practice. How much do YOU know about airports? Find out!
