What happens to a jet when one of its engine fan blades disintegrates in flight? Hopefully, not much. That's what Rolls Royce was out to prove when they created this test explosion in an Airbus A380 engine.
If a fan blade fails in flight, the engine needs to contain it to prevent shards from flying through the cabin or fuel tanks. Check it out, the results are pretty incredible.
