Why Pilots Don't Mind Taking 60 Hours To Fly Across The USA

I haven't met a pilot that hasn't dreamed of taking a cross-country flight across the United States in a light aircraft. Mirko Sylla and Peter Volker did just that, flying a Cessna 172 over 5,900 miles from Florida to California and back in roughly 60 hours. Forget about trying to make the trip as fast as possible on an airliner, this flight is about the journey, not the destination.
