You probably know that AOPA and much of the aviation community is working to let you fly without a third class medical. Instead, you would self-certify - meaning that if you have a driver's license and you don't have any prohibited medical conditions, you can fly single-engine aircraft non-commercially. No medical needed.
Last week, the American Medical Association voted to oppose this legislation. They'll lobby to keep the current 3rd class medical requirements.
What do you think? Does the AMA have it right - should all pilots exercising private pilot privileges have to see a doctor and get (at least) a third class medical? Or, is a drivers license good enough? Vote and let us know how you feel in the comments!
